HVD17 has been designed as a backing paste to be used directly behind a gelcoat and prior to lamination, HVD17 is to be used in areas of high profile or tight radii that are typically very difficult to laminate and often result in break-outs, air voids or pre-release and are time consuming, costly repairs. The use of HVD17 has been designed to eliminate there problems.
HVD17 can also be used behind the laminate as a general purpose gap filler.
HVD17 is a free flowing lightweight paste with a fluffy texture that allows easy application by brush or spreader, when applying HVD17 it is important to allow the brush to glide through the paste and encourage the removal of any air voids between the paste and the gelcoat. HVD17 is to be catalysed with medium reactive MEKP at 2%, a short time after catalysation a colour change will be observed from blue to white, the gel time of HVD17 is sufficiently long to allow lamination to commence whilst the HVD17 is still wet, the lamination should be consolidated into the HVD17, further ensuring no air void behind the gelcoat.
